Wedding Frenzy - Behind The Scenes!

 Mr and Mrs Berggren
1. October 2013
Alcudià, Spain

Take a look at the photo above. Seem in order? Hmm I'd say yes. Sunny, shiny, happy and loving too, I'd say! :) And so it was - our wedding. Absolutely mind-blowing a m a z i n g! As I'm sure every loving couple feels on their big day. Or I hope so, at least. <3

But did things go according to plan? Not at all. Let me just fill you in on some of the funny "highlights":

Error no 1.

Ebbe and I travelled by train from Gothenburg up to Stockholm on the Friday, to stay one night at Marcus's place and then all fly out together to Mallorca on the Saturday. Ebbe and I had a LOT of bags/trolleys/teddies/travel wardrobes etc. But I had figured it all out perfectly; as long as Ebbe didn't fall asleep we'd be fine. :) And he didn't! As the gorgeous little boy that he is he helped me with the trolley and his backpack and as we exited the first train of the day swifty getting onto the next I was just in the middle of praising him for his great job in helping me as a passenger from the last train suddenly taps me on the shoulder:

"Was this yours? You left it on the train."

Ah. The travel wardrobe. With my w e d d i n g d r e s s.

"Um, yes actually, thank you so much."

Error no 2.

Only to be followed by a re-run om Saturday morning when we stuff everything into our airport cab look at eachother and say: "Have we forgot anything? Hmmm nope, can't think of anything. Nope, me neither." All good then. For about 30 seconds until Marcus shouts STOP! and projectiles out the car and up into the apartment. Ah. The wedding dress AND his wedding suit both left behind this time. X-)

Error no 3.

About 2.30 am on the very night before the wedding I wake up with excruciating stomache cramps. Like massive AGONY. I crawl out of bed and into the bedroom where I place myself on the toilet for a while. Huffing and puffing and moaning in pain. Marcus obviously can't sleep with me panting away: "Honey? Are you ok?" I reply that I am most definitely not (maybe not in such eloquent words at the time) but also clearly state that he should stay on the outside of the bathroom doors. But pain is not letting go - on the contrary. OMG - this is not good I think to myself. And more importantly - Which way is it all planning to exit??!! If you know what I mean.. Oh well - what to do? As a woman of many solutions I therefor simply place myself in our grand round bath tub thinking: At least this way it doesn't matter if which way it comes. I can just shower it off! Ugh. Luckily I didn't have to. ;)

And to spare you the details but still let you know how it went: Down the drain. The "usual way". With a husband to be holding a cold towel against my forehead, gently stroking my back and comforting me as I .."relieved myself". (Did I just write that?) What a man. And how much ever I love him and want to share absolutely EVERYTHING with him - let's just say that was an intimate moment of a kind I was NOT planning to share..

In sickness and in health baby. <3 (Or mostly sickness thus far into the wedding day. ;))

Error no 4.

On the morning of the wedding day we're having a good morning but still a lot of things to attend to. In the middle of everything my sister in law Veronica calls and asks: "What does your wedding ring look like?" Eh what? Does she really need to know this NOW? But she persisted talk about the ring and as she came to: "..with a big stone in the middle and has the inscription Marcus 1/10 2013 in it?" WTF? What? How do you know what we..? DO YOU HAVE MY RING??? Veronica calmly replied: "Yes, I believe so. And your new diamond earrings too. Ebbe and Ina had played with a little box all day yesterday and somehow I now found it on the bottom of one of our beachbags."
Waaaaaah!! Let me just say my heart skippet a few beats fo a minute calculating how far away their hotel was and how long until the wedding photos were to be taken.. Then I took the phone away from my ear and one gigantical inbreath before..:

"MAAAAAAARCUUUUUUUS!!!!!!"

And as the gentleman he is of course he helped me out calming my nerves and making sure the rings arrived in time for the photos. Close call though. Phew! ;)

Error no 5.

No biggie really this one. Just a 15 bedroom hillside villa with two outdoor pools whereof one heated jacuzzi, two kitchens, a wedding party and dinner with 31 guests served by two chefs, two waiters and two servants. And a complete electricity power cut. Est funtionala NADA. No water, no toilet flush, no lights - no NOTHING. And for those of you ever been to the mediterranean on an island in the hills know that when it's dark, it is  d a r k.

But what to do but to make the best of it. Needless to say there was no dancing since no music. ;) But instead we lit up candles and paraffin lights. Held speeches with the light from mobile phones and there was also a few a cappella songs. In our view - the perfect evening with lots of time to really sit and talk to one another, enjoying each others company. <3

So what do I bring from this experience - except an amazing journey? I bring life. The ability to wake up everyday to make choices. The amazing miracle of love. The winning of daring. Of believing in yourself and standing up for what's important to you. Of not caring to fit in molds or to await approval from others. May that day of approval not come - then what have you done with your days?

Today I found out that our talented, warm and beloved jeweler had past away while we were away celebrating out love with his amazing handcraft. He died from a sudden stroke. Although I didn't knew him personally it still got to me. This is it. This is all we have.

Live today people. Tomorrow is now. <3
